Develop the knowledge, skills and workplace competence required to internally verify assessment practice with the OPITO Internal Verifier Vocational Qualification.
Designed for individuals who have been appointed, or are preparing to be appointed, to an Internal Verifier role, this SCQF Level 8 vocational qualification combines underpinning quality assurance knowledge with practical workplace evidence.
Candidates develop their understanding of internal verification before demonstrating their competence by monitoring assessment practice, reviewing assessment decisions and supporting consistent assessment standards within the workplace.
The qualification is ideal for individuals responsible for maintaining the quality and consistency of vocational assessment within the oil and gas, energy and other operational industries.
Standard course access allows system and tutor access for 12 months.
Units
The OPITO Internal Verifier Vocational Qualification consists of two mandatory units, both of which must be successfully completed:
OGOS-SQ03 – OPITO Internal Verifier
Develop the underpinning knowledge and skills required to understand and carry out effective internal verification of vocational assessment.
OGOS-SQ04 – OPITO Internal Verifier Workplace Evidence
Demonstrate practical internal verification competence through activities and evidence gathered within the workplace.
Successful completion of both units is required to achieve the full qualification.

Assessments
Learners must demonstrate both the underpinning knowledge and practical workplace competence required of an Internal Verifier.
Workplace evidence will be used to demonstrate the learner’s ability to undertake internal verification activities and review assessment practice.
Learners must have access to a minimum of two assessors undertaking an assessment process within their workplace to verify.
Verification activities must be undertaken in the workplace in accordance with operational requirements, organisational procedures and safe working practices.

This qualification is suitable for individuals who have been appointed, or are preparing to be appointed, to an Internal Verifier role.
It is particularly suited to individuals responsible for monitoring assessment practice and supporting the quality and consistency of vocational assessment within the oil and gas, energy and other operational workplace environments.
The qualification provides a recognised route for individuals who need to demonstrate their competence as an Internal Verifier against OPITO requirements.
Pre-requisites
There are no specific formal entry requirements for the OPITO Internal Verifier Vocational Qualification.
However, learners must:
- Be aged 16 or over
- Have access to a minimum of two assessors undertaking an assessment process within their workplace
- Have suitable opportunities to undertake internal verification activities
- Have access to relevant organisational assessment procedures, documentation and safe working practices
As workplace verification is a mandatory component of the qualification, learners should ensure they can meet these requirements before enrolling.
Certificate
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a globally recognised OPITO qualification at SCQF Level 8.
The certificate does not expire.
